Barcelona Coffee Table | Barcelona Chair | Outdoor Furniture

In 1927, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe designed the Barcelona table, for the Tugendhat House in Brno, Czech Republic. His approach to architecture and design was based on the philosophy of “no trivial decoration”. The Barcelona table clearly reflects this simple design philosophy, and encompasses the design features that epitomize Modern architecture. This table displays Mies van der Rohe’s awareness of proportion, detailing and craftsmanship. The base is constructed using a single piece of premium stainless steel, and incorporates Mies van der Rohe’s signature stylized cross form. This design feature ensures both precision and durability. The simplicity of the stainless steel base is complemented by the thick, clear polished plate glass tabletop. To this day, this classic design still continues to help modernize any contemporary environment. The Barcelona table is often paired with the Barcelona chair, simply for their stylistic parallels.
